ERIKA BECHARA, PhD

Professional
Master and PhD in Environmental Law. She has extensive professional experience in advising companies on issues related to compliance with environmental and consumer legislation, and civil foundations and associations, on matters related to corporate regulation/compliance and the formalization/structuring of their contractual relations with companies, public authorities , and other others non-profit institutions.

Academic and institutional participation
Professor of Environmental Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and in the preparatory course for the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) “Saraiva Aprova”. Assistant Coordinator of the Specialization Course in Environmental Law and Strategic Management of Sustainability at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, in which where she gives lectures and also advises students in the preparation of monographs for completing the course.

Regular lecturer in seminars, university extension , and postgraduate courses in Environmental Law and Third Sector Law, promoted by educational institutions and other reputable professional training and qualification entities. Legal and Administrative Coordinator of the Association of Professors of Environmental Law in Brazil – APRODAB. Master, PhD and qualification board member.

Authored the books “Licenciamento e Compensação Ambiental na Lei do Sistema Nacional das Unidades de Conservação (SNUC)” [Licensing and Environmental Compensation in the Law of the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC)] (ISBN 9788522456338) and “A proteção da fauna sob a ótica constitucional” [The protection of fauna from a constitutional perspective] (ISBN 8574534137). Coordinator of the book “Aspectos Relevantes da Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólicos – Lei 12.305/2010” [Relevant Aspects of the National Solid Waste Policy – Law 12.305/2010] (ISBN 9788522476282). Author of several articles on Environmental Law and Third Sector Law, published in specialized journals, collective works , and newspapers.

Her doctoral thesis, defended in 2007 at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, is entitled “A Contribution to the Improvement of the Institute for Environmental Compensation Provided for in Law 9.985/2000”, under the advisory of Professor Consuelo Yatsuda Moromizato Yoshida. In 1998, she defended a master’s dissertation at the same university on “The protection of fauna from a constitutional perspective”, under the advisory of Professor Doctor Celso Antônio Pacheco Fiorillo.
