The involvement of different social actors in the formulation of projects and initiatives of public interest expresses a democratic vision of society and public institutions, being essential to build a fair society. Mobilizing and articulating these different social actors towards the achievement of a cause reflect the meaning of the term advocacy, which still does not have a corresponding word in the Portuguese language.

Since the 1990s, the lawyers at Szazi Bechara Storto work in advocacy, monitoring bills of law, and dialoguing with legislative, executive and judicial branches of government, as well as providing support to actions aiming civil society mobilization and producing Green and White Papers and legal opinions on specific topics. Our experience in initiatives to expand the right to information in its three dimensions (the right to inform, the right to be informed and the right to seek information) provides us with a successful record in influencing opinion leaders and decision makers on the design, approval and implementation of public policies.
